GRANTSBURG, WI — The Grantsburg School District has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the purchase of the former Nelson Primary School property. Proposals are due Monday, December 9, 2024.
The building became vacant after the 2023-24 school year when grades Early Childhood through Kindergarten were relocated to the newly expanded and renovated Grantsburg Elementary School at the start of the current school year. The property, covering approximately 6.4 acres, is being sold in “as-is” condition.
The buyer will be responsible for all closing costs, including title insurance and recording fees. The official RFP includes a full list of terms for the sale.
"We hope to see this space repurposed in a way that continues to serve the community,” said Josh Watt, Superintendent. “Whether for new development, business possibilities, or other creative use, we believe this property holds potential for something meaningful and beneficial to the community."
The district encourages qualified and interested parties to submit proposals by the deadline for consideration. Proposals must be hand-delivered or mailed to Superintendent Josh Watt at the address below and include the following:
Name of the purchasing entity or individual
Purchase price
Amount of earnest money deposit
List of contingencies for closing (e.g., inspection, survey, appraisal, financing), including terms

Proposed use of the property
Respondents should clearly mark the outside of the envelope with the label, “School Property Bid.”
